chocolate sea salt bites

welcome to honey street! by way of magic, hunger, sweet treat hunt, or deep-dive google search, seriously, welcome welcome welcome. i am so happy you are here! i’ve dreamt of this space for a long time and finally flung my reservations into the sea (or snow, rather; everything you’ve heard about minnesota is true.) here you’ll find recipes made with real food that are simple and nourishing, and more often than not, really really good for you. my personal philosophy is that all food is good and the lens i look through is simply, ‘what will fuel and be joyful for my body.’ you will find recipes that are inherently grain free, paleo, vegetarian, vegan, etc etc etc, but my take on food doesn’t necessarily fall into any one bucket. i make and eat it all because i believe that it all has its’ place - but completely respect every single diet and walk of life under the sun because hey, do you, boo, and i hope you find something here you love.

these bites are an open love letter to this space and to anyone who appreciates a deceptively easy treat. nibble with coffee or sneak a couple for a midnight snack.

chocolate sea salt bites
14-16 bites
prep time : 15 minutes
cook time : 60 minutes (for chilling)

3/4c raw almonds
3/4c raw walnuts
1/2c flax meal
2 scoops chocolate protein powder*
2tbsp raw cocoa powder + more for rolling
4-6 dates, pitted + soaked in hot water to soften
3/4c almond butter
1/2c unsweetened almond milk
teeny pinch of salt + more for sprinkling
teeny pinch of cinnamon

pulse all ingredients in a food processor. if the dough is looking dry, splash in a little more milk. roll into golf ball-sized balls, then roll in cocoa powder. sprinkle a little sea salt on top of each bite, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour before eating.

*protein powder is totally optional. i like the added boost of a clean protein source, and it’s a two-birds-one-stone kind of thing. if you’re omitting the protein powder, sub it for 1/2c total cocoa powder.
